Acupuncture School Accreditation

There is no underestimating the importance of acupuncture school accreditation for those planning on studying and working in this field. If the school you attend is not accredited, you risk spending a lot of money for a poor education that will probably get you nowhere. Not only is there no way of knowing whether a school will provide you with the necessary skills and training if it is not accredited; your degree may also be little more than a worthless piece of paper.

Acupuncture is an excellent field to go into if you are passionate about alternative medicine and good with people. Acupuncturists are working all over the country, especially in coastal areas and the more serene or culturally rich areas. A recent boom in the popularity of holistic health in the United States has increased the demand for acupuncturists' services and pay. Although this ancient art has been practiced in the East for more than 2,000 years, it is a relatively new phenomenon in the West.

If you want to become an acupuncturist, you need an accredited education, though.

You will need to learn how to manipulate thin, solid, metallic needles with your hands or with electric stimulation in order to release endorphins that help to relieve various types of pain and tension. Your clients will want to see a degree from an accredited institution when they put their trust in you to perform this sensitive procedure on them.

Most acupuncturists have PhDs or master's degrees in this specialization, in addition to bachelor's degrees, which are often in some sort of health-related field, although not always. If you find a school that offers an acupuncturist degree in less than a year with no previous education or experience required, it's probably a scam. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Acupuncture school is tough work, and it will take some time. Only institutions that have earned acupuncture school accreditation are worth the time and effort it takes to get the degree. This way you know the education is high quality, and the degree you earn will be respected.

School Safety

Many high school seniors are graduating this spring and preparing to move away to college in the fall. Some of those recent grads might be planning to move across town, while others might be moving across the country.

Even sending kids off to elementary, middle or high school can be nerve wracking for parents these days. No matter where you live or what grade the kids are in, questions are always in parents’ heads: Will my kids be safe? What happens if they get lost? Will a stranger approach them? Did we teach them to do the right thing?

In some areas, community activists and local nonprofit foundations have helped staff and fund safety initiatives in and around schools.

Even the U.S. Department of Justice has gotten involved.

According to a recent Detroit Free Press story, “The U.S. Department of Justice also is helping. The department took on the issue of youth violence after a Chicago honor student was beaten to death by other teens in 2009 and the video of the murder went viral on the Internet. Detroit is one of six cities taking part in the department's National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention. The department works with cities to develop strategies for dealing with youth violence, though the city has to find its own funding through local partnerships.”

The reason behind the development of smartphone safety apps, such as Gabe The Guardian app, was to help people stay safe, in any dangerous or potentially dangerous situation.

They allow users to alert their closest contacts of their location if they are in an emergency, all with the touch of a button.

“These mobile devices are in nearly everyone’s pocket,” said Michael Monahan, founder of Gabe The Guardian app. “With that penetration in the marketplace, along with the tools that are inherent in the phones, like email, texting and GPS positioning, we should be able to use them to alert friends and family of dangerous situations.”

Gabe The Guardian app has taken promoting safety to a new level as it is working to partner with nonprofit organizations. By working with nonprofits, Gabe The Guardian is put into the hands of more people, and a percentage of revenues raised are sent back to the nonprofit as well.

“To us, it just made sense to help promote safety and support organizations that are working to make our communities better places, all at the same time,” Monahan said. “Our goal is the same as everyone else’s – we want our communities to be safe places to live, work and play.”

Gabe The Guardian is not only a way to put safety in the palm of people’s hands, but it is also the way to help communities grow stronger. Gabe The Guardian is the safety app for your smartphone and for your community.
